Course Description

This conference will focus on the large number of new anticancer agents and related supportive therapeutics that have been approved over the last several years, as well as those that will likely be approved. Speakers will discuss the incorporation of these agents into standard clinical practice, providing guidance to front-line clinicians regarding current or projected appropriate use of these therapeutics. Topics will include both early and late stages of various malignancies, and combined modality therapies (chemotherapy + surgery + radiotherapy) whenever pertinent.

 

Who Should Attend?

This is a conference for healthcare professionals to give them information on results of clinical studies of new anticancer agents and current treatment strategies. 

 

Learning Objectives

  • Cite the results of clinical studies of new anticancer agents and current dilemmas, with a principal focus on discerning the role or eventual role of new therapies in the clinical practice of oncology.
  • Describe the procedure for determining incorporation of new anticancer agents and therapeutics into clinical practice.

Cancellations: If you must cancel, your registration will be refunded less a 20% administrative fee, provided notice is received by February 1, 2014. The UTHSCSA Office of Continuing Medical Education reserves the right to cancel any course no less than a week prior to the start date of the course and to limit enrollment. Should circumstances make this necessary, registration will be refunded in full. The UTHSCSA Office of Continuing Medical Education is not responsible for transportation or lodging costs.

Continuing Pharmacy Education (CPE)

The University of the Incarnate Word, Feik School of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.

This program is designed for pharmacists to apply new oncology principles in their practice. The fee for CPE will be part of the registration fee for the program. Each educational session will be worth 1 contact hour of CPE for a total of 13 contact hours of CPE. The pharmacist will only receive credit for programs after an attestation of attendance and an evaluation form is completed and submitted. Certificates will not be mailed but contact hours will by uploaded to the CPE Monitor 4-6 weeks after the program. A valid NABP# and birthdate must be supplied for credits to be uploaded.
